POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Vocational Nursing Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to a designated group of patients. This role involves executing nursing procedures within the framework of your training and demonstrated skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer direct nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Engage in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Conduct admission, discharge, and transfer processes efficiently.
  • Utilize the nursing care plan in daily tasks, with the ability to review and adjust under supervision.
  • Monitor and document patient signs, symptoms, and behaviors, proposing adjustments to interventions as necessary.
  • Deliver nursing interventions that align with the established medical care plan.
  • Alert nursing and medical personnel to any changes in patient conditions, recognizing care priorities and potential crises.
  • Follow physician directives in the provision of nursing care.
  • Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Execute written physician orders for assigned patients.
  • Prepare necessary equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures, assisting with various treatments as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques in patient care delivery.
  • Document all nursing care in patient records accurately.
  • Comply with internal controls and reporting structures.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Standard patient care supplies and medical devices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is situated within a correctional facility, necessitating security clearance and pre-employment drug screening.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and possession of a current vocational nurse license/permit in Texas.
  • No prior experience is necessary.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Note: Recent graduates with temporary permits are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION:
Salary will be based on relevant work experience.
