Job Overview:
The primary objective of Correctional Managed Care is to meet the healthcare requirements of underserved patient demographics within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care to designated patients.
- Engage in the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing care provided.
- Conduct admission, discharge, and transfer protocols.
- Utilize the nursing care plan in daily responsibilities, with the ability to review and adjust the plan under supervision.
- Exhibit proficiency in observing and documenting patient signs, symptoms, and behaviors, including physiological conditions, and propose modifications to interventions and desired outcomes.
- Administer designated nursing interventions in alignment with the established medical care plan.
- Alert appropriate nursing and medical personnel of any changes in patient conditions; prioritize patient care, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential care crises.
- Follow physician directives in the provision of nursing care.
- Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records consistently.
- Safely and accurately administer medications and treatments.
- Execute written physician orders for assigned patients.
- Prepare equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures; assist in performing or facilitating procedures or treatments.
- Comply with infection control protocols, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in patient care delivery.
- Document nursing interventions in all relevant patient records.
- Adhere to internal controls and reporting structures.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
Work Environment:
This position is situated within a correctional facility, requiring security clearance and pre-employment drug screening.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current licensure as a vocational nurse in Texas is mandatory. No prior experience is necessary. Current BLS-HP certification is required.
