Job Summary:

The Maintenance Engineer, Level 1, is a key member of the Moxy Boston Downtown team, responsible for ensuring the hotel's facilities are well-maintained and running smoothly. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair hotel equipment, including air conditioning systems, boilers, chillers, and electrical systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Take readings on equipment and record data for future reference.
  • Test and repair cooling towers, swimming pools, and spas.
  • Replace and program televisions, light switches, receptacles, and fixtures.
  • Perform furniture repair and replacement.
  • Repair and replace pumps, plumbing fixtures, and water lines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal codes.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Trade school and/or College course work in a related field helpful.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Ability to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
