Job Summary:

This internship is designed for our Malta, NY Fab 8 site, a 300mm leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing facility. As a Maintenance Technician intern, you will work in partnership with production team members and area engineers to monitor, sustain, and improve the equipment and/or processes in the assigned area. Your responsibilities will include monitoring equipment performance, scheduling, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned tool sets. You will also use mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues. Effective communication of updates on the status of equipment and area to the Lead Tech and/or Engineer is crucial to the success of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance activities on state-of-the-art 300mm semiconductor equipment by following detailed instructions and procedures.
  • Work with various hand tools and measurement devices to ensure equipment is functioning optimally.
  • React to error messages from factory systems and/or equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Recover from process and tool interruptions to maintain production schedules.
  • Complete all required reporting and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement processes, learning, and skills development to enhance job performance.
  • Collaborate with a global team to achieve common goals.
  • Perform measurements to characterize the chemical, physical, and biological properties of materials.
  • Process wafers using defined procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Use standard software applications (MS Office) and specific programs (Xsite, SiView, SPACE, etc.) to create reports and document procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner, supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Requirements:
  • Education/Experience - Enrolled in a 2-year Associates Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Technology, Automotive, Industrial, HVAC, Advanced Manufacturing, Aviation, or a related discipline, with the first year of the degree nearly completed.
  • Strong academic standing.
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Language Fluency: English (Written & Verbal).
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements.
  • Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (any object greater than 50lbs requires a two-person lift).
  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled labor duties related to maintenance and repair of semiconductor equipment using hand tools.

  • Shift Week 1 Week 2
  • A (days) Week 1: Sunday to Wednesday 6:00AM to 6:30PM, Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday 6:00AM to 6:30PM.
  • C (days) Week 1: Thursday to Saturday 06:00AM to 06:30PM, Week 2: Wednesday to Saturday 06:00AM to 06:30PM.
