Role Summary:

The Retail Operations Analyst will be an integral part of the Retail Billing Operations team, concentrating on the efficient processing, quality assurance, and promptness of customer order transactions, account management, and monthly billing cycles. This role demands a proactive individual with strong analytical, process management, quantitative, and technical capabilities to enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the electricity and gas service lifecycles from contract initiation through to fulfillment and final account processing.
  • Operate within NRG's internal Customer Management Systems.
  • Execute daily operational tasks associated with the transmission and reception of electronic transactions between NRG and vendors/utilities.
  • Address transaction and/or billing discrepancies within established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Translate work into various formats, including Excel, as necessary for analysis.
  • Identify issues using reporting methods to ensure compliance with internal and external SLAs regarding transaction and billing accuracy and timeliness.
  • Resolve issues promptly and decisively or escalate as needed.
  • Utilize root-cause analysis to identify solutions for exceptions, errors, and process deficiencies.
  • Employ software, analytical tools, and a solid understanding of the retail energy market to investigate and analyze complex business challenges.
  • Contribute to the execution and implementation of new business and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for transaction and billing inquiries.
  • Create detailed process documentation for training and reference purposes when necessary.
  • Provide training as required for both internal and interdepartmental personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong critical thinking skills to develop solutions for complex business challenges.
  • Proficiency in Excel and foundational knowledge of SQL.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Operations or Back Office roles.
  • Experience in a large corporate environment is essential.
