Job Summary:

Quanta US is seeking an experienced EH&S professional to lead our environmental, health, and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing EH&S programs, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement in safety and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement EH&S programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain and improve safety management systems (ISO 14001/ISO 45001).
  • Integrate EH&S considerations into various operational aspects of the company.
  • Stay updated on changes in environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with department managers on corrective actions and continuous improvements.
  • Develop and deliver EH&S training programs for all levels of employees.
  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through education and communication.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Prepare reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Implement sustainability initiatives to enhance environmental stewardship.
  • Align EH&S initiatives with the overall business strategy and provide strategic guidance on emerging trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a comprehensive EH&S approach.
  • Track and communicate EH&S goals, initiatives, and performance metrics.
  • Support the management of worker's compensation cases and MOD rating tracking.
  • Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Display agility and urgency, as the dynamic shipyard environment involves coordinating multiple entities towards common goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in environment, safety, and sustainability management.
  • Proven EH&S management experience, including successful program development and implementation.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, Maritime, EPCRA, CAA, CWA, SARAIII).
  • Familiarity with best practice safety and environmental approaches.
  • Shipbuilding experience is required to be successful in this role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified First Responder or the ability to gain certification.
  • Complex problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal (bilingual is a plus).
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional demeanor and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
