Our Transmission & Distribution division is in search of a Lead Transmission Systems Engineer to enhance our dynamic team across various locations. This role involves spearheading the design of intricate transmission line projects, providing technical guidance, and overseeing the design team. The ideal candidate will be recognized as a leader in the transmission line design sector and will implement best practices across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the design of transmission projects from initial concept through to completion, ensuring alignment with project specifications and requirements.
  • Develop specifications and data sheets for transmission equipment, including Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and technical bid evaluations.
  • Conduct economic studies for conductor selection and perform calculations related to lightning performance and grounding.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical clearance standards and effectively communicate necessary regulatory requirements.
  • Review vendor drawings and collaborate with suppliers, clients, and other engineering teams.
  • Engage in project scheduling, budgeting, and staffing, while managing change orders effectively.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of transmission engineering principles to devise innovative solutions for complex projects.
  • Oversee quality assurance of production drawings and project-related data, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to address design-related installation challenges and conduct field inspections.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and contractors, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing their needs.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives and identify strategic project pursuits.
  • Prepare and present detailed project budgets and cost assessments.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers within the transmission engineering team.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Maintain effective communication with various engineering disciplines.
  • Uphold compliance with safety policies and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in transmission engineering, with a preference for EPC project experience.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred.
  • Proficient in engineering techniques, transmission design codes, and software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS-CADD).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
