Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist II to join our team at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. As a key member of our Children's Neurophysiology Lab, you will be responsible for conducting polysomnographic exams on patients to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Perform polysomnographic exams on sleeping patients to detect common sleep disorders.
  • Follow procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data and document procedures and data recorded from exams.
  • Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs and determine final testing parameters.
  • Explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to patients to educate them.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment used for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events and generate applicable reports when appropriate.
  • Perform equipment care and maintenance and comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
Requirements
  • Meet the educational requirements for registry by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST).
  • Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Certified as a RPSGT or RST.
Physical and Environmental Demands

This role requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environments, including high noise levels and exposure to heat and cold. You will also be required to handle or work with potentially dangerous equipment and be exposed to biohazardous conditions.

Working Conditions

This is a part-time position with a rotating schedule. The University of Mississippi Medical Center offers a competitive hourly rate and benefits eligibility for non-benefits eligible employees.
