The Heavy Equipment Technician will undertake a range of responsibilities, including diagnostics, service repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure a fleet that complies with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be proactive and skilled in identifying and resolving mechanical problems, as well as executing necessary repairs. Key Responsibilities of the Heavy Equipment Technician:

  • Utilize vehicle electronic systems to diagnose issues and initiate repairs.
  • Work collaboratively with operators to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Apply technical expertise to repair vehicles efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul major vehicle components, including engine and chassis maintenance.
  • Independently handle equipment requiring advanced skills in hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
  • Estimate repair time and material costs, and order necessary parts.
  • Respond promptly to unscheduled service requests and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Stay informed about existing equipment and be able to read and interpret equipment manuals.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working on diesel vehicles.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Welding skills are a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A solid work ethic and a positive attitude are essential.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Personal tools are necessary for this position.
