Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Coordinator to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our billing and insurance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain insurance authorizations for elective and emergency admissions and procedures, ensuring timely and accurate communication with patients, payers, and healthcare providers.
  • Verify patient benefits and coordinate with payers to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement effective billing and collection strategies to optimize revenue cycle performance.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Account Management team and MGPO Billing Managers to identify and address billing and registration system issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and other stakeholders, responding to billing and estimate inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Compile financial reports and provide complex financial, statistical, and productivity reports to inform business decisions.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; college education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in medical billing, coding, and revenue cycle management.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, office automation, and hospital-wide registration and billing systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
