WSP is initiating a search for a Lead Electrical Engineer specializing in Substation projects within the High Voltage Transmission & Distribution sector.


Your Role and Responsibilities
As a key member of our Energy Team, you will:

  • Oversee the Electrical Engineering discipline for Substation projects.
  • Ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of design packages pertinent to your field.
  • Maintain high-quality standards for all engineering outputs.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional development.
  • Provide expert insights and support across various projects.
  • Identify and address skill gaps within your team.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Support project engineers in achieving overall project objectives.
  • Represent the engineering discipline in client interactions, in collaboration with project management.
  • Contribute to proposal development and participate in the hiring process.
  • Assist in the enhancement of the quality management system.
  • Engage in reporting and project management activities as required.
  • Uphold ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Transmission and Distribution systems within utility or industrial/commercial settings.
- P.E. Registration or eligibility for P.E. licensing.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven experience in managing subcontractors and ensuring safe and efficient task completion.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
