Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Intervention Specialist Assistant On-Call Substitute to join our team. As an Intervention Specialist Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with developmental disabilities in a classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities- Implement instructional plans as directed by instructors and review goals with Intervention Specialists to ensure attainment.
- Communicate clearly and accurately with students, staff, and parents.
- Provide care and supervision of students in instructional and non-instructional areas.
- Transport and supervise students on school grounds and during community outings.
- Assist in daily curricular activities, including bus duty, lunch duty, field trips, and other program activities.
- Implement classroom management procedures, strategies, and techniques.
- Assist in all areas of Daily Living Skills.
- Create an environment of respect and rapport.
- Establish an environment conducive to learning.
- Establish and maintain clear and consistent standards of classroom behavior.
- Maintain physical space in a safe and suitable learning environment.
- Participate in educational activities during instruction.
- Participate in the planning and preparation of daily activities as directed by instructors and administration.
- Assist in the implementation of instructional programs for each student.
- Become familiar with instructional goals for each student.
- Prepare materials and supplies.
- Adhere to a schedule of responsibility.
- Participate in self-evaluation of job effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Communicate with families in accordance with instructor's direction and expectations.
- Grow through collaboration, including committee work.
- Continues professional enhancement.
- Maintain certification(s) as required by Board of DD, licensure requirements, and others as required by administration.
- Participate in required In-Services, including Mandt, CPR, child abuse, MUI/UI, Universal Precautions, and others as required by administration.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Certificate.
- Experience in working in a classroom setting, with young children or youth in a Special Education setting.
- Experience in lifting and transferring of students is an essential part of this job.
Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and paid sick time, employee assistance program, and wellness program.
