Job Title: Assistant Professor of Practice - Personal Financial Planning
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Practice in Personal Financial Planning to join our team at Texas Tech University. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in personal financial planning, advising and mentoring students, engaging with industry and professional partners, and participating in outreach and engagement activities in the community and profession.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in personal financial planning in face-to-face and online modalities.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Engage with industry and professional partners to facilitate student and program success.
- Serve on school, college, and university committees.
- Participate in outreach and engagement activities in the community and profession.
Requirements:
- Candidates must have an earned Master's, Ph.D., J.D. or Ed.D. degree in Personal Financial Planning (PFP), Finance, Accounting, Economics, Consumer/Family Economics, Law, or an appropriate field.
- Professional practice experience directly in or closely related to personal financial planning.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
- Evidence of student or emerging professional mentorship.
- Active membership in relevant professional organizations.
- Public speaking experience (e.g., conferences, guest lectures, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both oral & written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active CFP certification.
- Progress towards, or completion of, other appropriate designations, such as the CFA, CPA, or AFC.
- Experience teaching financial planning courses specifically in a CFP Board-registered education program.
- Professional practice and client-facing experience as a professional financial planner.
- Demonstrated commitment to and service in financial planning education.
