Position Summary:
The Inside Sales and Customer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in managing internal and external communications related to customer interactions. This position is pivotal in ensuring timely order processing, accurate quoting, and effective scheduling, while also addressing customer inquiries and complaints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the General Manager with no direct reports.
- Engage in minimal travel as necessary.
- Handle customer communications, including quoting, order entry, and scheduling, ensuring timely shipping and documentation.
- Strive for complete and on-time order fulfillment while balancing customer satisfaction with profitability.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining a collaborative and objective demeanor.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, influencing their perception of the company through efficient communication.
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding project and order status to foster confidence and satisfaction.
- Conduct outbound calls to potential customers and follow up on leads.
Additional Role Details:
- Professionally manage incoming calls and emails related to order placement, pricing, and delivery.
- Adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment and respond to various situations as they arise.
- Ensure all customer communications are addressed within the same day.
- Maintain organized customer files and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Process quotes and orders efficiently, monitoring their flow through various departments.
- Communicate with production and sales teams to resolve any discrepancies or issues.
Qualifications:
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an Associate's degree with 3+ years of experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to maintain oversight of customer needs and history.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the steel industry.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Familiarity with lean concepts in problem-solving.
Work Environment:
This role is primarily office-based, with some exposure to the shop floor. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, as well as effective communication through phone and in-person interactions. Minimal travel is expected, and ergonomic practices should be followed to ensure comfort and safety.
