POSITION OVERVIEW:
EPIC Systems Application Specialist - Professional Billing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The role of the Application Specialist involves the design, development, testing, validation, and continuous support of clinical and/or revenue cycle software applications.

This position necessitates acquiring the relevant Epic certification and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the software's functionalities, as well as gaining insights into the clinical or revenue cycle processes to be integrated into the system.

The Application Specialist is expected to be available on-call periodically, providing tier III support for the Epic clinical and/or revenue cycle applications on a 24/7 basis.

This role includes implementing configuration modifications to the Epic system as sanctioned by the designated committee.

Collaboratively with colleagues and representatives from clinical and financial departments, they will design a future-state workflow and configure the system to facilitate this new workflow.

The Application Specialists collaborate across interdisciplinary teams to achieve these objectives collectively.

The Application Specialist serves as a liaison for the Information Services team, tasked with establishing and nurturing essential business relationships with fellow Piedmont Healthcare staff, physicians, and all users or stakeholders interacting with the Epic application suite.


MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree or current clinical licensure in nursing, radiology, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, or a related field is mandatory.

Alternatively, four (4) years of experience in business administration, information technology, science, healthcare, or a related domain may be considered.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


A minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare or IT, including at least one (1) year of experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) applications.

(If lacking a degree or licensure, a total of seven (7) years of experience is required.)

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Epic certification is essential.

Preference will be given to candidates with at least one (1) year of direct experience working with Epic applications in a clinical or information systems context relevant to the position.
