As a Culinary Specialist, you will play a vital role in preparing delicious, nutritious meals for our residents and guests. This position involves adhering to production sheets, standardized recipes, and sanitary standards to ensure that every meal is both appealing and satisfying.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in daily production meetings and menu tastings to understand the requirements for upcoming meal periods.
  • Prepare a variety of hot and cold food items according to daily menus and dietary needs.
  • Ensure safe food handling practices during the transportation of food from production areas to dining spaces.
  • Guide servers on proper food handling, storage, and serving techniques.
  • Assist in the labeling and storage of bulk food deliveries, ensuring compliance with safe food handling standards.
  • Conduct regular inventories of food supplies and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Engage in ongoing training to stay updated on nutrition, dietary needs, and culinary skills.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in operating kitchen equipment and understanding food preparation methods.
  • Ability to follow dietary instructions and adapt menus as needed.
  • Must possess a clean and professional appearance, adhering to the dress code.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Health screening required to demonstrate freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis.
  • Criminal background check clearance is mandatory.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar culinary role, preferably in a retirement or home-care setting.
  • High school diploma preferred, with certification in safe food handling.
