Job Title: Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Miami Rescue Mission Inc.

Job Summary

The Teaching Assistant will report to the Education Manager and assist in administering the education program, including tutoring, diagnostic testing, and record keeping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer diagnostic testing to students and grade tests accurately and timely.
  • Monitor students' activities and verify test scores.
  • Assist students with computer literacy in a supportive and non-intimidating manner.
  • Maintain a professional image and treat students with respect and dignity.
  • Encourage students and help build their confidence.
  • Teach and instruct students using positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Complete and submit all documentation accurately and timely.
  • Participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma and a minimum of 1 year of tutoring experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with compassion and motivate students to learn and improve their skills.
  • Computer literacy and experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods or climb and lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak to interact with staff and the general public.
  • Ability to move around as needed to perform essential job duties.
