Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist RRT is responsible for providing high-quality, safe, and effective patient care in an inpatient and outpatient setting. This includes administering respiratory care, executing protocols, and educating patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, monitor, and assess the effectiveness of respiratory care for patients of all ages and developmental levels.
  • Use independent judgment in applying respiratory care protocols and take responsible action within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain a patient-centered focus and support the mission, goals, and values of the hospital, department, and division.
  • Interact with physicians and other healthcare staff to provide quality, safe, and efficient care for patients.
  • Educate patients and families on cardio-respiratory topics, medications, equipment, and procedures.
  • Participate in the oversight of other staff members during advanced procedures and assist in the orientation, training, and evaluation of new employees.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent military training program.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA) within 180 days.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) within 180 days.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 1-1/2 years.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days.
