Role Summary:

The Sustainability Lead will play a crucial role in evaluating environmental impacts, focusing on energy consumption and emissions. This position involves crafting strategies for resource conservation, enhancing efficiency, and reducing costs. The successful candidate will monitor external sustainability trends, assess their implications for our products, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and assess strategies aimed at promoting conservation, increasing renewable resource utilization, and minimizing waste.
  • Conduct carbon assessments for key product lines through life cycle evaluations.
  • Collaborate with divisional sustainability teams to identify opportunities for enhancing environmental performance.
  • Interpret policy documents and sustainability targets, translating them into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance sustainability certifications, including Cradle-to-Cradle and Health Product declarations.
  • Develop and implement lower embodied carbon product options, providing validated benefits.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in sustainability, including policy changes and customer expectations.
  • Evaluate the environmental footprint, including energy and waste emissions.
  • Recommend facility design modifications and energy management initiatives.
  • Propose innovative programs such as energy buyback and peak pricing.

Expectations:

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with product regulations and market demands.
  • Report any compliance-related concerns to management or through designated channels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of experience in sustainability or environmental roles.
  • Experience with Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations is preferred, with training available.
  • Strong background in sustainability within the building sector, with an emphasis on decarbonization.
  • Understanding of factors affecting Global Warming Potential in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental certifications.
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and product delivery.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
