We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner with expertise in critical care and telemetry to join our team at Northern Lights Eastern Maine Medical Center. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients in a 12-hour night shift, with a focus on telemetry monitoring.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have strong clinical skills, as well as excellent communication and teamwork abilities. They will be responsible for assessing and monitoring patients, administering medications, monitoring and maintaining telemetry equipment, providing patient education, collaborating with the healthcare team, responding to medical emergencies, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring infection control and patient safety.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Perform comprehensive assessments of patients, including evaluating vital signs and heart rhythms via telemetry.
  • Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, ensuring proper dosing and timing.
  • Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring: Monitor patients with telemetry units to assess heart rate, rhythm, and overall cardiac health, and maintain and troubleshoot telemetry equipment to ensure proper function and reliable patient monitoring.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on disease management, medication regimens, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to implement and adjust patient care plans.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests and respiratory distress.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient communications.
  • Infection Control and Patient Safety: Follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections and ensure patient safety.
