Our center is committed to equipping eligible youth with essential skills for employability and independence, facilitating their transition into meaningful employment or further education. Students benefit from comprehensive support, including room and board, while they acquire skills in specialized training areas for up to three years. Our program aids in completing high school education, offers career training, provides transitional support services, and assists with job placement. Graduates of our program are prepared to enter the workforce, pursue apprenticeships, continue their education, or enlist in the military.

Role Purpose: Under the supervision of the Career Pathways Director, the instructor is responsible for equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully complete both the written and practical driving examinations required for obtaining a state operator's license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction that complies with state regulations.
  • Assist students with prior infractions in regaining their eligibility and securing a license before program completion.
  • Document and track all student assessments and progress using the automated Center Information System (CIS).
  • Stay current with developments in the field through various resources, including publications and training programs.
  • Exemplify, mentor, and uphold the positive cultural standards of the center.
  • Safeguard assigned center property responsibly.
  • Report any breaches of ethical conduct.
  • Propose enhancements for operational efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Identify and communicate any environmental health and safety issues.
  • Ensure that drivers and staff are informed and updated on all relevant transportation and driving information.

Qualifications:

Driving Instructor's License is Required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: A minimum of two years in driver's education or instruction is required. Experience with BMV/DMV is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to fulfill all mandated training requirements as per government and management directives.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of staff and students in various situations.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all departmental tasks.
  • Ability to promote Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors and mentoring students as needed.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:


• A valid driver's license in the state of employment with a satisfactory driving record is required.


• I-9 documentation is necessary to verify authorization to work in the United States.


• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.

Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
