SUMMARY:
The role involves planning, executing, assessing, and overseeing educational curricula and instructional methodologies tailored to meet the unique requirements of students with special needs. The specialist will create engaging learning experiences that align with the educational institution's objectives and regulatory standards. The position emphasizes providing individualized support to empower students in achieving their academic, social, and career aspirations while fostering collaboration with parents and colleagues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of all regulations and policies set forth by the educational board and relevant educational departments.
- Adhere to all federal regulations concerning students with disabilities. - Deliver specially-designed instruction to designated students.- Collaborate with educational staff and service providers to formulate individualized, measurable goals for students' educational programs.
- Work alongside general education instructors to identify suitable accommodations and interventions for students' educational plans. - Partner with educators and service providers to prepare IEP Progress Reports for students on the caseload. - Utilize student performance data from various assessments to inform instructional strategies. - Engage in collaborative teams to evaluate data and adjust teaching methods to enhance student learning outcomes. - Employ reflective practices to refine instructional techniques and adapt to evolving educational needs. - Implement the institution's classroom management strategies and programs. - Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members. - Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities. - Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution. - A valid teaching license for the appropriate content area and grade level in Ohio. - Experience in urban educational settings. - Knowledge of differentiated instruction and intervention techniques. - Understanding of trauma-informed care and child development principles. - Proficiency in utilizing technology to enhance student learning.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS:
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs. - Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is conducted in a classroom environment. - Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue. - Work may be subject to frequent interruptions. - Some responsibilities may require completion within strict timelines. - Periodic travel for meetings and professional development activities may be necessary.
