Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine maintenance and preventive care on light machinery.
  • Perform equipment upkeep as required and scheduled.
  • Operate additional mobile machinery as necessary.
  • Oversee bark (fuel) production and maintain sufficient inventory in the fuel storage area.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by MDF Plant Management.
  • Diagnose and analyze bark production and quality to ensure optimal functioning of the Energy Plant.
  • Load transportation vehicles with bark.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the plant.
  • Strictly adhere to the MDF Plant Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Execute all tasks in compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate comfort with numerical data, performing basic calculations and measuring bark inventory.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety standards consistently.
Professional Experience:
  • Preferred: Two years of experience in a production facility.
  • Required: Proficient computer/HMI skills for operating automated systems.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic, sense of responsibility, and the ability to mentor and cross-train colleagues.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Education and Specialized Skills:
  • Minimum requirement: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency for record-keeping.
  • Experience as a heavy equipment operator is preferred.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained on the log crane and front-end loader, aiming for proficiency in operating this equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend equipment operation and maintenance manuals and related technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, sense of duty, and capability to mentor/cross-train team members.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency, make accurate decisions, and exercise sound judgment in a demanding work environment.
  • Availability for overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, plus readiness to respond to occasional off-hours call-outs to ensure operational reliability.
  • Collaborative problem solver who is resilient and dependable.
Environmental and Behavioral Profile:
  • The MDF Front End Loader operator will encounter various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, sunlight, rain, and confined spaces.
  • Must be capable of completing daily tasks with little to no supervision, multitasking in a challenging environment, and making quick decisions with clear communication.
Linguistic Profile:
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written) is essential for successfully completing the required tasks.
Mobility and Physical Requirements:
  • This position operates within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimal travel is expected for this role.
  • This is a full-time position, typically requiring work Monday through Friday, with extended hours and frequent weekend shifts, including nights and holidays to ensure operational reliability.
  • Occasional lifting of components weighing up to 50 lbs may be required.
  • Frequent tasks include sitting, walking, talking, hearing, using hands and fingers to handle or operate tools and controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, wet or humid conditions, temperature extremes, combustible dust, fumes, airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock risks, and vibrations.
  • This is a full-time position with rotating shifts, including 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am.
Key Relationships:
  • Internal stakeholders include MDF, Maintenance, Production Planning, Research & Development, and Sales Representatives.
  • External relationships involve vendors, suppliers, service contractors, and other Krono Swiss plants.
