Job Overview

Position Title: Child Care Assistant (Developmental)

Salary: $19.00/hour

Location: Coast Guard Community Services Command

Role Summary:

The Child Care Assistant plays a crucial role in fostering a nurturing environment for children, focusing on their emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth. This position collaborates with educational leaders to design and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that enhance child development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver early childhood educational experiences using diverse materials.
  • Collaborate with management and educators to create and execute a curriculum tailored to developmental needs.
  • Establish a supportive atmosphere that encourages positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
  • Lead and facilitate structured activities for participants, ensuring engagement and participation.
  • Utilize approved child guidance techniques to interact effectively with children and youth.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and community members.
  • Assist in tracking program participation and completing necessary documentation.
  • Prepare and organize indoor and outdoor spaces for daily activities.
  • Supervise children in various settings, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Provide routine care and support, addressing the physical needs of children.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required and perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum age of 18.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships with children, youth, and colleagues.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry over 45 pounds and engage in various physical activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or youth in a professional setting.

Additional Information:
