Position Summary
DVS is seeking an Operations Training Specialist to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in providing education in land-based operations, including Search and Rescue and Command Center Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction on Command Center missions, covering areas such as search and rescue, marine safety, navigation aids, ice operations, marine environmental protection, law enforcement, and coastal security.
- Ensure effective classroom management and oversight, focusing on quality, student engagement, and adherence to time management.
- Achieve client-defined quality objectives for instructional delivery and classroom management.
- Demonstrate the ability to assess the knowledge level of students and tailor instruction accordingly.
- Maintain discipline and professionalism within the classroom environment.
- Ensure regular class schedules are adhered to and that course curriculum outlines are followed.
- Foster a safe and conducive training atmosphere, ensuring all necessary materials are available and addressing any disruptive behavior.
The Site Lead will establish performance metrics for the Operations Training Specialist within the initial days of employment, which may include:
- Achieving satisfactory ratings on 80% of course evaluations.
- Consistently following instructional materials.
- Receiving favorable ratings on the Instructor Feedback Form annually.
- Exhibiting effective communication and collaboration with all team members.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a primary classroom instructor.
- At least five years of operational experience as a qualified CIC Watch Supervisor and Operations Unit Controller in the U.S. Coast Guard or equivalent in the U.S. Navy.
- Three years of experience in Command, Control, and Communications, including the handling of sensitive materials and configuration of communication systems.
- Understanding of Coast Guard mission areas and operational policies.
- No security clearance is required.
