- Ensuring audits adhere to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Government Auditing Standards.
- Conducting various audit tests to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of existing controls.
- Executing complex and highly technical internal audits.
- Leading audit teams, which includes delegating tasks, training audit personnel, and providing technical support to agency staff.
- Reviewing audit work performed by colleagues on the same assignment.
- Engaging with clients during the audit planning phase and facilitating entrance and exit meetings.
- Ensuring all findings and recommendations are well-supported.
- Guaranteeing that audit reports are precise, concise, comprehensive, relevant, and timely.
- Conducting exit meetings with clients and communicating details as per agreed terms.
- Assisting in the preparation of the agency's internal annual risk assessment.
- Facilitating exit conferences and gathering corrective action plans.
- Monitoring and following up on corrective action plans.
- Providing support to the Privacy Coordinator as needed and serving as a backup.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance with a minimum of 15 semester hours in auditing, accounting, or related fields; professional auditing experience is essential.
- Experience in government accounting, auditing, or risk assessment, along with financial and records management is required.
- Experience in supervisory roles and familiarity with SCEIS is preferred.
