Job Overview

Position Summary
:
  • The incumbent serves as a Certified Nurse Aide within the Nursing Department.
  • Responsible for executing fundamental nursing care tasks, adhering to the Certified Nurse Aide training guidelines, under moderate supervision.
  • Reports directly to the unit manager while also receiving instructions from the charge nurse (RN or LPN) on the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers safe and effective personal care to residents as outlined in aide assignments.
  • Care responsibilities may encompass bathing, showering, positioning, feeding, transferring, toileting, nail care, hair care, and range of motion exercises.
  • Utilizes recommended safety equipment and complies with infection control protocols.
  • Records care provided accurately.
  • Responds to call lights and residents' requests for assistance promptly.
  • Upholds all residents' rights diligently.
  • Assists in orienting new staff members on the unit.
  • Measures and records vital signs.
  • Engages in resident care planning and reports any unusual behaviors or signs.
  • Facilitates resident transportation for in-facility and out-of-facility appointments.
  • Organizes residents' clean clothing and updates inventory records accordingly.
  • Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas and resident equipment/supplies within the unit.
  • Mentors and trains new staff and students.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provides 1:1 staffing support as necessary.
  • Assists with resident activities both on and off the unit.
  • Responds to emergency codes and provides assistance as required.
  • Delivers post-mortem care when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must obtain certification as a Nurse Aide within 120 days of employment; must maintain CNA and first aid certifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and comprehend nursing documentation; capable of following verbal instructions; proficient in delivering basic nursing care practices; skilled in using medical equipment within the scope of certification; committed to providing safe and efficient resident care.
