Position Summary:
- The individual serves as a Certified Nurse Aide within the Nursing Department.
- Engages in all facets of fundamental nursing assistance, adhering to the guidelines established for Certified Nurse Aides, under moderate supervision.
- Reports directly to the unit manager while also receiving instructions from the charge nurse (RN or LPN) on the unit.
- Delivers safe and effective personal care to residents as outlined in aide assignments.
- Care responsibilities may encompass bathing, showering, positioning, feeding, transferring, toileting, nail care, hair care, and range of motion exercises.
- Utilizes recommended safety equipment and complies with infection control protocols.
- Records care provided accurately.
- Responds to call lights and assists residents with their requests.
- Upholds all residents' rights.
- Assists in orienting new staff members on the unit.
- Measures and records vital signs.
- Participates in care planning for residents and reports any unusual behaviors or signs.
- Aids in transporting residents to and from appointments, both within and outside the facility.
- Organizes residents' clean clothing and updates inventory records.
- Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas and resident equipment/supplies within the unit.
- Mentors and trains new staff and students.
- Provides 1:1 staffing support when necessary.
- Assists with resident activities both on and off the unit.
- Responds to emergency codes and provides assistance as required.
- Offers post-mortem care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must obtain certification as a Nurse Aide within 120 days of employment; must maintain CNA and first aid certifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and comprehend nursing documentation; capable of following verbal instructions; skilled in providing basic nursing care; proficient in using medical equipment within the scope of certification; dedicated to delivering safe and efficient resident care.
