Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Certified Nurse Aide plays a crucial role in the Nursing Department, providing essential support and care to residents.

This position involves executing fundamental nursing tasks under the guidance of a charge nurse, ensuring that all care provided adheres to established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective personal care to residents as outlined in the aide assignment.
  • Care responsibilities may encompass bathing, showering, positioning, feeding, transferring, toileting, nail care, hair care, and range of motion exercises.
  • Utilize safety equipment and comply with infection control protocols.
  • Document all care provided accurately.
  • Respond to call lights and assist residents with their requests.
  • Uphold the rights of all residents.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff members on the unit.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Engage in resident care planning and report any unusual behaviors or signs.
  • Support resident transportation for both in-facility and external appointments.
  • Organize residents' clean clothing and maintain inventory records.
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned areas and resident equipment/supplies.
  • Provide mentorship and training to new staff and students.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Offer 1:1 staffing support when necessary.
  • Assist with resident activities both on and off the unit.
  • Respond to emergency codes and provide assistance as required.
  • Deliver post-mortem care when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Nurse Aide is required within the first 120 days of employment; maintenance of CNA and first aid certification is essential.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents and comprehend nursing documentation.
  • Capability to follow verbal instructions and deliver basic nursing care practices.
  • Proficiency in using medical equipment within the scope of certification.
  • Commitment to providing safe and efficient resident care.
