Laboratory Research Scientist I-III

POSITION SUMMARY
The individual will be tasked with executing research, development, and laboratory experimentation, along with other scientific endeavors to bolster Genentech projects. This role demands a high level of technical expertise and discretion in the formulation, execution, and interpretation of experiments that are pivotal to project strategies. The candidate will be responsible for preparing technical documentation, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses. Additionally, they will present and discuss experimental outcomes within their department and project teams. Maintaining a high standard of professional knowledge through engagement with scientific literature and participation in relevant conferences and professional organizations is essential. Adherence to company policies and procedures for GMP, GLP, Design Control, and other applicable regulations is required. The individual will ensure complete and accurate laboratory documentation and electronic records. They may also serve as the principal investigator for their own experiments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops experimental protocols with minimal oversight.
- Conducts bench experiments; makes detailed observations and analyzes data comprehensively.
- Prepares technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses.
- Maintains thorough and accurate records.
- Receives general guidance on routine tasks and detailed instructions for new assignments.
- Proposes enhancements to work processes and the laboratory environment.
- Assists in the identification and practical application of patentable inventions.
- Addresses diverse problems where data analysis necessitates evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Exhibits judgment within generally defined practices and policies when selecting methods and techniques for solutions.
- May engage in cross-functional technical teams, such as those investigating failures.
- Collaborates effectively in a team setting, contributing as a productive project team member, suggesting innovative solutions to challenges, and providing input for project planning.
- Trains colleagues in areas of expertise.
- Diagnoses issues and implements corrective measures.
- Prepares and presents experimental methodologies and results in group and project settings.
- Monitors work to ensure quality, continuously promoting a Quality First Time approach.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possesses knowledge of basic and a variety of specialized laboratory techniques.
- Proficient in researching scientific literature to gather information on specific topics.
- Skilled in utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, graphical, and presentation software applications.
