This role is accountable for overseeing a team of over thirty food production staff in a unionized setting, ensuring adherence to safety, security, food quality standards, sanitation protocols, and compliance with HACCP, USDA, and FDA regulations. Additionally, this position involves managing labor and material cost controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guarantees that production quality standards are consistently met and upheld.
- Ensures team members comply with HACCP, FDA, USDA, and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Prepares necessary management reports, including attendance and labor metrics.
- Accountable for safety, quality, and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Verifies that specifications, airline diagrams, and other standards align with airline requirements.
- Ensures all products are labeled according to company procedures.
- Conducts inventory checks of products and materials to optimize usage and minimize waste.
- Completes requisitions for the storeroom to maintain adequate supply levels.
- Maintains daily temperature logs and other required documentation.
- Collaborates with maintenance personnel to ensure timely preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Manages material costs and other controllable expenses.
- Meets all financial objectives related to productivity, overtime, labor costs, and hours per flight.
- Works alongside management to enhance unit performance.
- Oversees workflow distribution among employees during shifts.
- Determines staffing needs and manages coverage for absences.
- Ensures compliance with company wage and hour policies, including proper breaks for employees.
- Trains and supervises employees on effective work practices to maximize productivity while minimizing costs.
- Monitors daily staffing plans and schedules employees accordingly.
- Focuses on employee retention and reducing turnover rates.
- Responsible for coaching and guiding employees, ensuring compliance with union agreements.
- Reviews and confirms correct job titles and cost center assignments for employees.
- Ensures accurate pay rates for union employees based on wage scales and seniority.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and required training.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant, or catering environment is preferred.
- Strong leadership abilities and experience managing a team of 30+ hourly employees.
- Previous experience in labor relations is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to engage with employees at all levels and drive positive changes.
- Proficient in training others.
- Capable of providing constructive feedback regularly.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Innovative mindset with the capacity to implement operational improvements.
- Basic computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification is required.
- ServSafe Certification is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both spoken and written forms; attentive listening to ensure mutual understanding.
- Bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish/Chinese Mandarin/Vietnamese/Hindi/Polish are a plus.
