Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing direction and guidance to Psychiatric Technicians and implementing nursing activities towards common hospital goals. The incumbent will provide nursing care to meet the needs of patients throughout New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administration of medications to relieve anxiety, control behavior, and treat physical problems.
  • Performing various treatments ordered by physicians to ensure patients' optimal physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Supervising and guiding Psychiatric Technicians to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements:
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico or eligibility for such licensure.
  • Five years of experience in nursing, with a focus on administration and leadership.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting.

Working Conditions:
The work environment is an acute care hospital setting with exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents. Some bending, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling may be required, as well as co-lifting and/or transferring patients. Potential exposure to infectious diseases is also possible. The incumbent must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime, shift work, and callback hours as needed.
