The incumbent may also be tasked with overseeing projects and may engage with external manufacturing sites.

This position is recognized as the global authority on Gum technology and is expected to offer support and consulting services when deviations from established process specifications occur, ensuring that any alterations to equipment or process settings maintain the essential quality attributes of the product.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemical engineering, or a related technical field such as chemistry or food science is essential.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in engineering, chemical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gum processing technology at a world-class level.
  • Proven project management capabilities, typically acquired through a minimum of 10 years of professional experience leading New Product Development (NPD) projects as a technical contributor on cross-functional teams.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience in the development and successful launch of new products, packaging, and processes in relevant industries.
  • Practical experience in the creation of new processes, utilizing both existing and emerging technologies.
  • Strong skills in influencing, negotiation, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to creatively and collaboratively solve problems.
  • Experience in factory settings, laboratories, or pilot plants.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with a capacity for rapid learning.
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects through execution with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective collaboration and partnership with cross-functional team members across R&D, Supply, and Commercial sectors.
  • Additional Preferred: Six Sigma Black Belt, experience with external vendors, hands-on experience in launching new processes in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, and experience in food innovation, flexible teams, and partnerships with universities or research institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentoring and coaching process development and engineering associates.
  • Delivering training (both classroom and practical) on process technologies.
  • Providing support and collaboration with Supply (including Industrial Engineering, Regional Engineering, and Site Engineering) and Factory Innovation.
  • Establishing Global Specifications Standards with foresight into future process and technology advancements.
  • Acting as a technical expert for process development on specific technologies and unit operations with a global reach.
  • Staying informed about new developments in food technologies, packaging, design, and category trends by building strong relationships with vendors and equipment suppliers.
  • Accountable for executing process development activities and ensuring the successful commercialization of allocated programs at both internal and external sites.
  • Maintaining and implementing Global Process Standards for core products and new innovations.
  • Ensuring that process development designs yield products that meet consumer, brand, and quality key attributes.
  • Supporting Factory Innovation and Engineering in the implementation, innovation, and optimization of current and future assets while delivering global process specifications for new, modified, or existing manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborating with Global Supply Chain and Science & Technology to identify and deliver new or optimized process specifications, including initiatives for digital transformation.
  • Addressing complex regional process development needs, including troubleshooting when manufacturing processes do not meet designed specifications.
  • Connecting with peers in other regions and R&D functions to share best practices in support of global deployment of new innovations and Freedom to Operate programs.
  • Utilizing Six Sigma tools for process troubleshooting.
  • Partnering with Supply Chain to design and develop process specifications for agile and concept-scale production lines.
  • Collaborating with the R&D Digital Transformation Team to create a digital roadmap for the use of new digital tools for data collection and analysis, predictive modeling, and automation where applicable.
  • Coaching in competency building for new sites, including training planning and delivery.
  • Potential to develop into a Digital Engineer for specific subject matter expertise, focusing on the design of applications that utilize digital technology, including digital automation, data analytics, artificial intelligence, digital twin technology, and machine learning.

  • Be part of a purpose-driven organization, committed to building the world we aspire to create.
  • Access to best-in-class learning and development resources from day one, including our in-house Mars University.
