About the Role

At Children's Mercy KC, we are seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to join our team. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing basic patient care and supporting the operations of our units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supportive patient care, ensuring the comfort and well-being of our patients.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment and promoting efficient and safe operations.
  • Perform unit secretary/clerical functions, including data entry and communication with patients and families.
  • Attend education programs, unit meetings, and assigned committees to stay up-to-date on best practices and hospital policies.
  • Share responsibility for teaching and orienting new personnel, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children and families preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required.
  • Alternatively, one of the following criteria must be met:
    • Enrolled in a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing education program and have successfully completed the fundamentals in nursing course.
    • Within the past three (3) years, was a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examination in any state.
    • Completed an UAP (unlicensed assistive personnel) program in Missouri or another State (that meets current regulatory requirements) within the past three (3) years.
    • Completed a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country.
    • Worked as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician within the past three (3) years.
  • BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Some units may require bilingual skills.
