Position Overview:
Patient Care Associates deliver fundamental patient support and assist with departmental operations under the guidance of registered nurses.

Responsibilities are assigned by the supervising registered nurses in accordance with this job description.

To ensure the safety of our patients, families, and staff, we require the seasonal influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.

New hires must be prepared to receive vaccinations if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chicken pox (varicella), and/or without proof of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005.

If you are selected as a finalist for this role and have concerns regarding these vaccinations, medical and/or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.


Key Responsibilities:
Provides essential patient support.

Assists in maintaining a secure environment and promotes effective and safe operations.

Performs clerical duties as Unit Secretary.

Participates in educational programs, unit meetings, and assigned committees.

Shares responsibility for training and orienting new staff (within own competencies)

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required; 1-2 years of experience working with children and families preferred.

CNA License


If not a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), one of the following criteria must be met: Enrolled in a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing program and have successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing course.


Within the last three (3) years, was a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing licensure candidate who did not pass the state licensure examination in any state.


Completed an UAP (unlicensed assistive personnel) program in Missouri or another state (that meets current regulatory requirements) within the past three (3) years.


Completed a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country.

Worked as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician within the past three (3) years.

BLS certification required upon hire.

Some units may require bilingual skills.

The starting pay for this position begins at $17.00/hr, with the final offer determined by your qualifications and experience.


Remote Work Policy:

This position is not eligible for remote work, requiring the selected candidate to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations.
