Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor

Ochsner Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our laboratory section, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, and promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
Responsibilities- Coordinate daily operations and ensure the laboratory section is running smoothly and efficiently.
- Supervise and train laboratory staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
- Oversee performance improvement and quality control programs, ensuring that our laboratory meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility and manage laboratory budgets and resources effectively.
- Participate in PALM and department projects, contributing to the development and implementation of new initiatives and programs.
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field.
- 4 years of training and experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty under a qualified Medical Director.
- Current license or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist in the state of practice.
- Meets CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel relative to scope of duties.
- Meets CLIA standards as a general laboratory supervisor.
- ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist.
- Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist in the state of practice.
- Advanced analytical skills necessary to analyze complex data and troubleshoot equipment.
The physical essential functions of this job include frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects, occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
