Role: Bilingual Medical Assistant/Front Office
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Employment Type: Contract
Compensation: $23 - $25 per hour
Key Responsibilities- Assist healthcare providers with patient care, assessments, and medical procedures.
- Work collaboratively with providers to ensure the health and wellness of patients during pregnancy.
- Manage patient flow within the clinic, acting as a vital communication link between patients and providers.
- Educate patients on prenatal and post-partum care.
- Record vital signs, nursing history, and physical assessments accurately.
- Document all patient care activities and assessments in medical records and clinic documentation.
Additional Duties:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient examination rooms and workspaces, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Engage in quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives.
- Respond to patient inquiries via phone, providing necessary guidance and follow-up.
- Oversee the drug supply room, ensuring proper documentation for medication dispensing.
- Handle incoming calls, assessing needs and directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Welcome patients and visitors with professionalism, collecting necessary forms and medical records as required.
- Schedule appointments for new and returning patients in accordance with office protocols.
- Gather demographic and insurance information, ensuring accuracy in the system.
- Register new patients and notify nursing staff of arrivals, preparing charts for upcoming appointments.
- Collect co-pays and issue receipts as necessary.
- Keep the waiting area tidy and organized.
- Follow office policies to enhance operational efficiency, covering other roles as needed.
- Exhibit positive interpersonal skills when interacting with colleagues, patients, and providers.
Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in line with clinic policies.
Other Responsibilities: Perform additional tasks as assigned by management or the operations team, which may not be directly related to this position.
Language Skills: Serve as a bilingual interpreter for Spanish-speaking patients, facilitating communication with providers and office staff as necessary.
QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma required; Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse certification preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is necessary.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in clinical support roles is required, with obstetrics experience preferred. At least 2 years in a physician clinic setting is also preferred.
Skills: Intermediate computer proficiency is essential. Candidates must handle confidential information responsibly and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of hazardous materials used in clinical settings and effective body mechanics is required. The ability to adapt to new situations and evaluate data to make informed decisions is crucial.
