Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Instruction
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with the YMCA's educational philosophy and standards.
    • Plan and lead daily activities, including circle time, imaginative play, story time, and hands-on learning experiences.
    • Assess and document student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
    • Maintain a safe, organized, and aesthetically pleasing classroom environment.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child's progress and activities.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, share best practices, and support each other's professional growth.
    • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and other events that promote the YMCA's mission and values.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Manage classroom supplies, materials, and equipment, ensuring they are adequate and well-maintained.
    • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, progress reports, and other relevant documentation.
    • Assist with enrollment, orientation, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
    • Valid Florida Childcare Staff Credential.
  • Experience and Skills
    • At least one year of experience teaching in an early childhood education setting.
    • Strong teaching and student management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
  • Certifications and Training
    • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Annual completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens training.
    • Annual completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.
Salary and Benefits

The YMCA of Southwest Florida offers a competitive salary range of $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and professional development opportunities.
