Job Title: Early Learning VPK Classroom Teacher

Job Type: Full-time

Description:

The YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a qualified Early Learning VPK Classroom Teacher to join our team. As a Classroom Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters the growth and development of young children.

Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement a daily and weekly rhythm that supports the growth and development of young children.
    • Prepare and lead daily activities, including circle time, imaginative play, story time, hand work, painting, cooking, and outdoor activities.
    • Document student progress and maintain accurate records.
    • Develop and maintain a safe, harmonious, and clean classroom environment.
  • Home/School Communication:
    • Hold regular class meetings with parents to educate them about Early Learning education and child development.
    • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
    • Write weekly correspondence to parents with updates on their child's activities and important announcements.
  • Written Reports:
    • Complete mid-year and end-of-year reports that describe each child's growth and development.
  • Planning and Preparation:
    • Prepare lessons, activities, and materials for daily use.
    • Take attendance and maintain accurate records.
    • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Participate in enrollment process for new students, including student interviews and parent interviews.
    • Develop and maintain a lesson plan that can be shared with substitute teachers in the event of an absence.
    • Participate in professional development and accountability plans to ensure ongoing growth and improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on child development or early childhood education.
  • Valid Florida Childcare Staff Credential.
  • At least one year of teaching experience in an early childhood education setting.
  • Strong teaching and student management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain a positive and supportive team environment.

Certifications and Training Requirements:

  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Annual completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens training.
  • Annual completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols.

Salary: $15.00 to $17.00 per hour.
