Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Respond to and place calls; take and relay messages; handle requests/problems and refer to appropriate staff; demonstrate proper telephone etiquette.
- Interact with all patients in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Assess and screen patients for potential risk factors.
- Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Remove patients from exam rooms and prepare for the next procedure.
- Follow departmental protocols for procedures unless specified otherwise by the Radiologist.
- Obtain and document patient history and pertinent information.
- Ensure proper patient identification and provide patient privacy.
- Distribute radiology film requests as necessary and obtain the signature of an authorized person to whom films/cds are released, as required by HIPAA.
- Review radiology orders for completeness, errors, or discrepancies and reconcile discrepancies with the physician's office prior to completion.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the Athena Practice Management System.
- Be knowledgeable of the location of emergency equipment and medications to assist in the treatment of contrast reactions and other emergencies.
- Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care.
- Plan the delivery of care according to patient activity and staff competencies.
- Verify exams in the PACS system.
- Print and copy studies from the PACS system.
- Call other facilities to request prior studies.
- Report any unusual circumstances or problems to the Chief Tech for proper action.
- Exercise proper precautions to ensure the safety of patients, the general public, staff, and self while performing duties.
- Correct and complete orders when necessary.
- Cancel and reschedule patient appointments as needed.
- Ability to position patients for all modalities when requested.
- Schedule patients and complete necessary screening forms as required.
- Ability to select and prepare proper equipment and supplies when requested.
- Replenish and change supplies in assigned areas as needed.
- Maintain a consistent level of productivity.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
- Consult and communicate with other departments in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate understanding of safety, health, and morale needs of customers and co-workers.
- Demonstrate awareness of safety and procedures for self and others with all modalities.
- Other job duties as required.
- Pushing and pulling, taking frequency and weight into consideration.
- Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency and weight into consideration.
- Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Endurance (e.g., continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).
- High School Graduate/GED required.
- 0-1 years' experience required; 2-4 years preferred.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills required.
- Working knowledge and expertise in MS Word and MS Excel (or equivalent spreadsheet application) preferred.
- Experience in computerized material management systems preferred.
- Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills required.
- Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
- Experience with imaging, patient care, and filming equipment preferred.
- Experience with Power injectors and storage devices preferred.
- Experience with Teleradiology system/PACS System preferred.
The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors, including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
