Job DescriptionEssential Functions and Job ResponsibilitiesAs a radiologic technologist, you'll follow physicians' orders precisely and adhere to regulations concerning radiation use to protect patients, colleagues, and yourself from unnecessary exposure.
You'll help patients transfer to the detector or exam table, ensuring proper immobilization for radiologic exams. Verify patient identification on studies and route them to PACS. Send required information to Virtual Radiologic when necessary.
Place demographic information in the reading room for interpretation and maintain a daily log of patients seen. Operate radiologic or fluoroscopy equipment for diagnostic-quality imaging.
Obtain essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation. Monitor patient reactions to treatment and changes in physical or mental status, reporting changes to the appropriate person.
Prepare and assist patients for radiologic procedures as requested by a physician, providing patient care with dignity and respect. Educate patients about procedures to be performed and obtain optimum quality images through proper anatomical positioning and radiologic techniques.
Observe and follow safety procedures, including radiation protection and universal precautions. Carry out quality control checks on equipment, reporting deficiencies to proper personnel.
You'll work independently and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments, demonstrating commitment to total quality management and service excellence. Maintain familiarity with changes regarding technology and safety for self, patients, and visitors.
Process studies onto CD or film format for patient study requests while maintaining proper HIPAA compliance. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and working areas, practicing sterile technique and preventing cross-contamination.
Maintain familiarity with the departments' booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS systems. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training and fulfillment of continuing education requirements.
You'll have the ability to maintain a great knowledge of human anatomy and cross-section anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and imaging techniques. High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications.
Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection, and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Required QualificationsNew York State and/or Connecticut License and ARRT Certification. Maintaining superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures. Excellent patient and people skills.
Ability to maintain a great knowledge in human anatomy and cross-section anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques. High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications.
Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection, and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
