Role Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing production operations, ensuring that objectives are met efficiently while maintaining quality standards and fulfilling customer expectations. This role involves continuous monitoring of practices and outputs to foster improvement and achieve optimal manufacturing results. Collaboration with team members and cross-functional departments is essential to develop strategies that enhance performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of salaried shift managers to achieve results in Safety, Quality, Output, Cost, and employee relations.
  • Monitor operational metrics such as OEE/PR, labor costs, scrap rates, and product quality, implementing strategies for improvement.
  • Drive the continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Manage the execution of production plans and associated support activities effectively.
  • Establish policies and procedures to ensure seamless operations, proactive maintenance, and timely issue resolution.
  • Develop and implement both short-term and long-term operational plans aligned with departmental strategies.
  • Foster effective communication and relationships with support functions.
  • Oversee the development of operations personnel through training, succession planning, and performance evaluations.
  • Build strong work teams to support business growth by hiring, supervising, and mentoring staff.
  • Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to set and monitor progress towards goals.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company health and safety protocols.
  • Participate actively in Safety initiatives, engaging team members in these efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work off-shift and weekends as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business operations management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role.
  • Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is essential.
  • Proven track record in Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TPM).
  • Ability to address manufacturing challenges through Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining shop floor organization programs like 6S.
  • Lead management review processes to enhance performance and minimize waste.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and lead projects in a manufacturing context.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with all levels of management and staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
