Job Summary:

Cary Medical Center is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join their Laboratory team. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting biological specimens for laboratory procedures and assisting technologists in sample processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect high-quality blood and other biological specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
  • Respond promptly to computer orders and telephone requests.
  • Explain procedures to patients and answer questions appropriately.
  • Order correct tests as indicated on medical provider's requisition.
  • Respond promptly to STAT and URGENT requests.
  • Complete draws with one needle stick to obtain sufficient quantity of specimen greater than 95% of the time.
  • Collect specimens other than blood samples, such as nasal and nasopharyngeal swabs, for testing.

Requirements:

  • No license required - on-the-job training.
  • Obtainment of Phlebotomy Certification required within the first 6 months of employment.
  • CPR and basic first aid recommended.
  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.

Schedule:

With consideration to our patients' and staff needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
