Job Title: Principal Engineer - Major Projects

Metrolink Trains is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Major Projects to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing major projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee major projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensure they are aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure they have the necessary resources and expertise to deliver projects successfully.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including project sponsors, customers, and external partners, to ensure projects meet their needs and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure projects are delivered smoothly and efficiently.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with Metrolink Trains' policies, procedures, and standards, and that all relevant regulatory requirements are met.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Develop and implement lessons learned from project delivery, to improve future project outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project management, with a focus on major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks, and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, including MS Project, Primavera, and Asana.
  • California Professional Engineers License (Civil) or ability to obtain within 12 months.
