Job Overview

SHL Medical is a leading provider of advanced drug delivery systems, with a global presence and a commitment to innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled Injection Molding Maintenance Technician to join our team in Switzerland.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on Engel Injection Molding Machines, including thermocouple replacement, heater band maintenance, and screw assembly changes.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move equipment and materials.
  • Utilize milling machines, lathes, drill presses, sanders, grinders, and polishers to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Production Planner and Molding Supervisor to schedule preventative maintenance activities and ensure smooth operation of all injection molding machines.
  • Support the growth and development of the molding team by training technicians in areas of expertise and learning new systems.
  • Maintain accurate time and maintenance records in SAP.
  • Lead the review and author of SOPs and other documents, as required.
  • Collaborate with the Predictive & Equipment Maintenance Manager to develop and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Participate in world-class Total Productive Maintenance teams to ensure production equipment is in excellent condition and lines are running at high efficiencies.
  • Pull and set molds in small to medium-sized injection molding presses using hi-lo and overhead cranes.
  • Knowledge of GDP (ALCOA) cGMP, 11CFR, ISO8, and ISO9 regulations.
  • Support IMM Commissioning and Qualification activities.
  • Oversee the MNT OPS for IMM, including day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support for IMM and process area improvements.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure efficient operation of IMM equipment and machinery.
  • Assist in the execution of all URS, DS, and FS of IMM equipment.
  • Support investigations related to IMM to determine deviation root causes, recommended immediate mitigation, long-term preventative strategies, and CAPAs.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to improve safety, robustness, and compliance of IMM equipment.
  • Enforce safe operating practices and establish a safe environment for IMM and customers by adhering to company procedures and policies.
  • Organize and execute all work order requests assigned promptly.
  • Understand and be familiar with general maintenance workflow processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Interface with Facilities, Engineering, Capital Project Management, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, EH&S, and Manufacturing Operation teams.
  • Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs by performing quality checks of all IMM equipment, tools, and equipment.
  • Record and track daily progress/error reports using KPI.
  • Oversee IMM & facility equipment repairs & spare parts.
  • Develop and manage maintenance schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance activities.
  • Be available to support the IMM Department and Facility maintenance team during shutdown, holidays, and off hours.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Associate of Applied Science Degree, apprenticeship graduate, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintaining control systems and electrical/electronic repair.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a maintenance tech role with plastic injection molding, preferably in a medical device manufacturing facility, Biopharma, or medical manufacturing facility.
  • Experience utilizing prints, schematics, and documentation for troubleshooting issues.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective maintenance programs and managing maintenance staff.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analyzing, and solving problems with various electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices: preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate staff.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal applicable regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex maintenance issues.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including FDA regulations and ISO standards.
