Key Responsibilities
- Designs, tests, documents, and implements high-quality Business Intelligence solutions utilizing the Microsoft BI stack, including SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and T-SQL stored procedures, as well as MDX and Power BI, in alignment with established specifications and supporting documentation.
- Creates, develops, deploys, and maintains comprehensive BI solutions, encompassing data warehouses, dashboards, and analytical reports.
- Constructs ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into data warehouses.
- Regularly evaluates the performance of stored procedures, queries, and reports to identify and rectify discrepancies.
- Follows established standards to ensure the maintainability of data systems that support team development.
- Offers troubleshooting and resolution for support-related issues.
- Generates and develops SQL scripts to execute data testing strategies, ensuring enhancements align with business requirements and that data quality meets acceptable thresholds.
- Collaborates with IT counterparts and management to apply analysis and design techniques, including database schema design, to achieve business objectives.
- Conducts data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with various departments and personnel to facilitate coordinated efforts.
This summary provides an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in SQL OLTP or Data Warehouse development.
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence development and data analytics.
- 3+ years of development experience with Microsoft SQL Server components, including T-SQL, MDX, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
- 3+ years of experience in developing and delivering database solutions within an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Version Control Systems like Microsoft TFS / Azure DevOps Server or other comparable systems.
- Experience integrating with Azure data sources is preferred.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is advantageous.
- Preferred certifications include MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist), MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate), or MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) in SQL Server / Data Platform.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Possesses a solid understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, and both relational and dimensional database design, along with the ability to access multiple information sources for analytical purposes.
- Knowledge of best practices, including change management, effective error handling, and performance instrumentation.
- Ability to develop and optimize T-SQL statements, stored procedures, database schemas, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services Reports, visualizations, and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Packages.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, demonstrate innovation, exercise sound judgment, and exhibit a business-savvy orientation.
- Excellent conceptual, analytical, and judgment capabilities.
