Job Summary

The University of Alabama seeks a highly skilled Library Technician to provide technical support and customer assistance in our Health Sciences Library. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for utilizing our automation system, software packages, and office equipment to deliver exceptional library services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and assistance to patrons, including helping them access information resources and utilizing library databases.
  • Assist faculty, students, and clinical learners in locating research materials and providing basic instruction on the use of online library databases.
  • Promote a welcoming environment that supports discovery and champions the College's mission of teaching, research, and high-quality healthcare.
  • Provide administrative support and data entry for record keeping, financial operations, and online access to library resources.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and two years of library experience, or an associate's degree or higher and some library experience.
  • Knowledge of library organization and use of library cataloging and information systems.
  • Basic reference skills and working knowledge of standard office software applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet stated deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
