Job Summary: The Library Public Services Assistant provides support to patrons in the use of the library and its resources. This role involves creating, editing, and maintaining records in the library's online database system. The successful candidate will also support various library units, including reserves and current periodicals, circulation, interlibrary loan, acquisitions, and government documents.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist patrons in the use of the library and its resources
* Create, edit, and maintain records in the library's online database system
* Support various library units, including reserves and current periodicals, circulation, interlibrary loan, acquisitions, and government documents
* Obtain and lend materials outside the University campus
* Provide routine library facilities and equipment support
* May supervise student workers

Additional Responsibilities:

* Perform public services and/or technical processing duties that require in-depth knowledge of unit policies, standards, and codes
* Frequently use one or two automated system modules in such activities as inputting data or searching moderately difficult records
* Communicate with other library units/departments, university offices, and outside agencies on matters of moderate complexity
* Collaborate with UA Libraries consortia
* Direct students as needed
* Provide input in the development of unit policies and procedures
* Perform duties with limited authority to make decisions
* Assist with all Circulation duties as needed, including Chat hours and night and weekend rotation

Requirements:

* High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of library experience; OR associate's degree or higher and some library experience
* Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications
* Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
* Ability to interact in a positive manner with co-workers, patrons, and outside entities
