Job Overview

As a Coatings Equipment Consultant at PPG US Industrial Facilities, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, installation, and troubleshooting of equipment used in coatings applications. Your expertise will be essential in providing technical support for the operation of coatings equipment systems, which includes the creation and revision of operational manuals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Offer technical expertise to PPG facilities regarding application equipment and new technology, including operational recommendations for PPG Spraylab facilities.
  • Conduct research on equipment manufacturers to perform comparative analyses of customer systems against PPG systems, providing recommendations for enhancements.
  • Manage updates for coatings and topcoat application process equipment across PPG facilities globally.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with PPG's technical teams, marketing teams, technology launch coordinators, and customer support teams. Ensure that PPG technologies evolve with advancements in process equipment and stay aligned with emerging equipment trends through internal updates.
  • Collaborate with process engineers on new application technologies and processes. Assist with any commercial activities at designated sites and provide necessary equipment for launch initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve issues using data-driven approaches to support problem-solving efforts.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 35-50% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in a technical discipline or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a skilled trade, automotive, or coatings industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret coatings process drawings or schematics, including mechanical, electrical, and piping systems relevant to coatings equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, or other engineering drawing software.
