Position Overview
AmeriLife is currently undergoing a significant transformation of its operational framework to better address the changing needs of our stakeholders nationwide. We are seeking a Commission Specialist to assist in advancing our ambitious initiatives.

The Commission Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the timely and precise processing of commissions for agents and marketers within the organization. This individual must possess strong organizational skills, analytical capabilities, and a commitment to accuracy. The Commissions team is tasked with guaranteeing that all commissions owed to our affiliates, marketers, and agents are processed correctly and punctually, in accordance with our contractual agreements with carriers and affiliates.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties include:
  • Calculate and project agent commission expenses for the weekly payment cycle across multiple carrier partners.
  • Review data entries, validate calculations, and confirm outputs with meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and implement necessary corrections.
  • Investigate and resolve commission-related inquiries from agents, affiliates, and marketers within a 24 to 48-hour timeframe.
  • Verify that all agent, agency, and carrier payment levels are accurately reflected in the system by cross-referencing control sheets.
  • Create and maintain Excel reports utilizing data from the commission processing system as required.
  • Oversee and maintain individual agent balance reporting, ensuring obligations are fulfilled appropriately across all carriers.
  • Download and manage third-party files to populate commission files, reformatting as necessary.
  • Assist with audits as requested.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred but not mandatory) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel (mandatory).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with finance colleagues, marketers, and agents.
  • Experience in the insurance industry or related agency experience (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proficient in computer usage and relevant software.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, multitasking, and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional interaction with brokers, carriers, and other team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire for continuous learning and identification of process improvement opportunities.
